Tibby Elementary students are so excited about the Presidential election that they are taking that excitement and applying it to create their own political experience.
“I started being hesitant because I wasn’t well known in this school. I didn’t really talk a lot to other people. I just stuck with my group of friends.”
“What I think is important about running for president is that you’re helping another soul learn something that they are too scared to say. You’re voicing what they think and you’re helping them out by getting their voice out there and helping to build their confidence up.”
“This can actually prepare you for life, to how to stand up for yourself and to say what’s needed and to do you.”
“The current election has captured the imagination of everyone and it has revealed the need for leaders to emerge from communities like this one. So that’s really what sparked our desire to establish a student council to give our kids the sense that leadership matters that being involved in your community matters, and that a big part of leadership is being a part of the solution as oppose to being a part of the problem.”
