He will serve on the Racial and Identity Profiling Advisory (RIPA) Board, which discusses, analyzes, investigates and seeks policy solutions for the prevention of racial profiling by state and local law enforcement.
“I’m humbled by the opportunity to serve my state as part of RIPA and thank President Pro Tempore de León for this honor,” said Ali, who has served on the Compton School Board since 2007.
“Racial profiling is an issue that is very close to the hearts of residents in many communities including Compton. It is my hope that we can work together towards positive changes that ensure safety for all citizens, especially our children.”
CUSD Board President Satra Zurita praised Ali’s appointment as a victory for the Compton Unified school community.
“I am confident Mr. Ali is a great addition to this board because of his dedication to our community.”
In addition to serving on CUSD’s School Board, Ali is also the president of the Compton Creek Mosquito Abatement District’s Board of Trustees and is a member of organizations including the Los Angeles County School Trustees Association.
